Great speech. Makes too much sense, so guaranteed not to happen. Self serving politicians, personal and Corp greed will always impede progress for the many.
"But, unfortunately, we are being run by rich people who want more money than they actually need."
Not just more than they need, but more than they can reasonably spend in a lifetime. They want to create dynasties of wealth, to shelter their decedents from the ravages of the free market in perpetuity. They claim that wealth inequality is the result of a meritocracy, but they work hard to ensure that that is not so, that their decedents lead the best life America has to offer, while being required to contribute nothing but a small portion of their rent, stock dividends and other un-earned income.
Charlie Wilson, former CEO of GM and later Eisenhower's Sec. of Defense, was quoted saying: "Whatever is good for General Motors is good for America". Fifty years earlier, Calvin Coolidge had said: "The business of America is business". Is it any wonder that we are a nation that worships only money and its evil twin: power.
Who wrote this magnificent conglomerate of ideas and celebration of Democracy? I have spouts of free thought & analysis. I sent some to President Joe, don't know if he reads them. One can only hope. Did you write this David? Is it part of a thesis or manuscript? I would like to copy it for reference may, & who do I credit were I to use it as reference? Not that I might publish but I like to use proper references & footnote, I like them lol
Thanks for the commentary. I’m an old Roosevelt Democrat, who went independent over a decade ago when it dawned on me that the Democratic Party had abandoned Roosevelt and the common citizen in favor of the corporations. So I like the Rooseveltian streak in your writings.
I’ve got a question which has nothing to do with your article, but I hope you can help me with as a colleague of Ralph Nader. Specifically,I joined Mr. Nader’s citizen group a few years ago. I forget it’s formal name. At any rate, I’d write to Mr. Nader asking him to share the identities of others in my state of Montana who also signed up so I could contact them and get organized. I’d never get an answer. Would it be possible for you to find out?
I’m a good organizer. For decades, I’ve been organizing my fellow Montanans to vote for independent judges, but I can’t organize through Mr. Nader’s group if I don’t know whose in the group.
Sorry for this unorthodox request. Trying to find something that works.
David, even a brief look at the events and forces surrounding the RFK assassination make a mockery of the so called investigation that is of course every bit as ludicrous as the MLK and JFK murders.
They all stink of Allen Dulles, MK Ultra and fellow far right travelers in the obsessive quest to “save” rampant Capitalism from the slightest threat of democratic socialism, much less Communism.
Here’s a bit of history, you probably knew but I did not learn until recently, Allen Dulles was one one of the members on the Warren Commission! Talk about the fox being in charge of the hen house.
Like many, I cannot understand why several Presidents, now, continue to refuse to make the evidence public. You would think at least Trump would have, if it pointed to a CIA and/or FBI plot. Might there be something in them derogatory about President Kennedy.? If you get the chance, chat with me concerning why we can’t be shown the evidence.
Thanks Erik, interesting things you bring up. Yes, I was well aware that Allen Dulles actually served as the gatekeeper for evidence going to the Warren Commission.
I highly recommend that you read “The Devils Chessboard:” by David Talbot. However, be prepared, because it will reveal a lot that is difficult to accept as an American.
Simply consider for a moment that as President you are aware there is a genuine cabal of Wall Street, Corporations and highly placed government officials. In the WWII era these elites were sympathetic to Nazism. Most of all they held an obsessive fear of Communism; not so much over “freedom” but money. Thus Dulles (both of them) engineered and fomented the now ancient sounding “Cold War”
Long story short, Kennedy didn’t hold there vision. He believed a great deal in what we think America is actually about. Dulles and his crowd grew to hate and despise Kennedy. He just got in the way too often and was deemed to soft. So, they plotted and succeeded in killing him. Then they did a wash and repeat on MLK and RFK. That marked the real end of the American dream.
But you say, what about no Commies? Virtually all the Cold War generation is dead. Well, it doesn’t really matter too much as long as Capitalist can run rampant.
Thanks for the response. I have only started to question Kennedy’s killing recently. Between the Dulles brothers and Hoover I can see why it might be feasible. Still, why would not someone like Trump turn over the file? I consider him part of the swamp, but he’s also all about Trump and disclosure would endear him to his base.
PS Read the article. As a Marine officer during Vietnam, I learned not to trust the government so would not put anything past them.
Ps: i was an airplane flier at first. Then I started bitching about the war. The Brass decided to end my dissent with extreme prejudice, training me to be a forward air controller so I could get dead quick. But by the time they retrained me, they pulled the Marines out at Danang. So that’s why I’m still standing.

As usual David. I completely agree with you--truth is I agree with about 98% of everything I have heard you say or write. Not bad in the scheme of things. Here is my take on the Media and the Debt Deal, Trump, etc. https://www.salon.com/2023/06/05/the-press-cluelessly-fan-the-flames-of-fascism/

I salute you alone for still being above ground 🫡
