Wow. If the Supreme Court makes a ruling doesn't the DOJ have to enforce it as courts usually carry something called, the rule of law. If the Governor's and Congress just break away form the rule of law and we let them, AND the press doesn't say anything about it, then, I suppose, they have already won their, insurrection, and subversion of Democracy. I'm reading all these books about how the Republicans have gerrymandered and brainwashed people for the past 20 years, hoping there is time to understand a way to reverse some of the damage. It feels like I am wasting my time.
Trump's election loss in 2020 shoud have been his downfall. Since then, there has been undying support for his re-election. Something is indeed very wrong. We all know the components of the MAGA mindset: profound racism and profound greed fueled by vast pools of dark money whose donors have no use for democracy because it can tax them. But their success reveals profound psychopathy on a massive scale. That is something I thought went out of style in 1945. Let us never again be so naive. Fascism did not die in 1945. It is alive and well and, regretably, always will be. The rich and powerful are playing the role of pre-democratic nobility. They are our Kings and we are their subjects. It is democracy that is dying, if it ever really existed.
Last night, I watched a PBS documentary detailing Hitler's rise to power. Following his chancellorship victory, he instructed his Nazi cohorts to abolish democracy in Germany, consolidating power for himself and his party. Utilizing disinformation, he vilified opposition parties, labeling them “traitors” and”enemies of the people”. Within six months, the Reichstag fire provided the pretext to end democracy, with Hitler blaming opposition parties and having martial law declared. Courts were suspended, and thousands of dissenters were swiftly detained. Trump's tactics eerily echo Hitler's, painting Democrats as enemies and perpetuating crises, like the border situation, as his Reichstag fire. With Republican support, Trump's return to power will likely spell the end of our democracy. Those who reigned in his worst authoritarian tendencies are gone and only anti-democracy enablers, like JD Vance, remain.
That’s why it’s crucial to support Democratic efforts to safeguard our democracy, while our justice system catches up with Trump. Please reach out to your local Democratic party to volunteer to help get out the vote or donate to ensure a strong turnout in November. We are going to need it.
I live in Perth, Western Australia (the most remote capitol city in the World). I find David Feldman's show to be inciteful, biased in a good way, funny and informative. I dislike Donald Trump and his continuous stream of untrue invective. I admire Joe Biden. He has overcome such sadness in his life and, yet, has turned America around after the disasters of the Trump presidency. I am looking forward to Joe's second term.
So many people of dubious quality trying to be Donald Trump’s running mate - they must see what anyone can see: the former president looks sickly and his mental health is deteriorating. A VP in this case might well become a president. President JD Vance? His first act might be to throw out the U.S. Constitution.
When I read about this TOOL, it reminds me of how worried I am that a far more dangerous fool, TRUMP, could win in November. I live in Western Australia but follow US politics. I appreciate how Joe Biden has turned your country around after the disastrous mess left by Trump. Joe has improved the lot of the working population, cancelled billions of dollars in student loans, brought inflation down by 60%, lowered unemployment below 5% and the list goes on. If the Speaker wasn't in Trump's pocket, the border issue could be settled forthwith, Ukraine would be funded, as would Israel (if the population could rid themselves of Knatt-in-Yahoo. America, the most powerful country on Earth and the powers-that-be cannot find a way to rid themselves of the flea, Donald Trump and his MAGA cronies. It astounds me.
Kennedy was assassinated (in 1963, I think). There are still ongoing theories, including the one about the scapegoat Oswald. Who and why remains an enduring mystery. Regan was another shooting of a US president. My question is this - why has nobody made an attempt on the life of you-know-who? I can imagine the scenario: an armed man (or woman) appears before the Republican front runner, and one of the security detail yells, Donald! Duck!! Whereupon the rest of the security detail collapse in laughter.
