I’m trying to meet my listeners, so I’m writing to invite you to Office Hours and Hours. You and I need to talk!
I’m building an international community of law abiding Leftists dedicated to improving material conditions for EVERYONE.
All you need is Zoom. We start every Friday at 8:00 PM (EST)
I host the first ninety minutes taking your calls. Talk to me about whatever you want. As Prince Charles says, “I’m all ears.”
Then the community takes over. I return twenty-four hours later to continue the conversation.
What’s on tap for this weekend’s Office Hours and Hours???
Our screening series continues with Michael Moore’s documentary on gun violence, “Bowling For Columbine.” Lane Hewitt in Great Britain will lead the discussion afterwards.
Professor Adnan Husain, in Ontario, Canada, wraps up his course “Jewish and Muslim Parables and Philosophical Fictions” with a focus this week on Kafka.
Professor Jonathan Bick continues his lecture series on “The Twilight Zone” which always includes one of his favorite episodes.
Professor Bick also continues his lecture series on Star Trek which always includes one of his favorite episodes.
Joe In Norway takes us on a hike through the mountains for a live view of the Norwegian Alps.
We go to Mexico where Rodrigo offers a course entitled, “An Indictment of The U.S. Education System.”
And Falco in Belgium will teach, “Water Harvesting and Management in Wet/Dry Conditions.” The subject might seem dry, but it’s plenty wet.
Roriki leads our “Weekly Marx” discussion group, and there’s another edition of “Hammer and Sickle” where Andy, Sarah, Dave In PA, and Falco teach us how to build it, repair it, cook it and eat it.
All of us need a refresher course on how to communicate.
That’s why I’m INCREDIBLY proud of the rules set forth by our community to create a safe open space where we engage with purpose and meaning.
I urge you to read our code of conduct. It’s not simply a brief tutorial on how to behave during Office Hours. It teaches you how to behave throughout your entire life.

Only a nihilist would ignore Joe Thompson. Joe is a true success story. Last month, they organized TWO(!) Starbucks in Santa Cruz, California. Two Starbucks went union because of Joe, and they are not stopping. Only nineteen, Joe is running for state assembly. The primaries are Tuesday.

Ethan Herschenfeld has a new book!
Today is Now! is the first book from Dr. Samuel Benjamin, Founder and Chief Emotional Officer of the New York American Institute of Eclectic Modality Therapy (EMT™). Dr. Benjamin's revolutionary methods take written form here, so that all of humanity can benefit from his vast knowledge, his unique perspective, and his decades of clinical experience. As he so eloquently puts it: "Perhaps the most compelling and persistent of my visions is the vision of you and your world in full bloom."
Truly the voice of a generation, George Carlin gave the world some of the most hysterical and iconic comedy routines of the last 50 years. From the "Seven Dirty Words" to "A Place for My Stuff" to "Religion Is Bullshit", he perfected the art of making audiences double over with laughter while simultaneously making people wake up to the realities (and insanities) of life in the 20th century. Few people glimpsed the inner life of this beloved comedian, but his only child, Kelly, was there to see it all.
A guided group tour to concentration camps in Poland and Germany allows Stahl to confront personal and historical demons with both deep despair and savage humor.

“A provocative group portrait of five industrialists who expanded their fortunes by colluding with Hitler and then, after World War II, walked away with minimal punishment and barely a dent in their bottom lines... In this meticulously researched book, Mr. de Jong, an investigative journalist and former reporter at Bloomberg News, compels us to confront the current-day legacy of these Nazi ties."—The Wall Street Journal
