The Mop Up For May 20, 2022
A look back at the week in Feldman, and an invitation to Office Hours
Office Hours starts tonight at 8 PM Eastern. It’s a terrific way for me to meet listeners and for my listeners to meet me and other listeners. We’re building a community of activists, artists, musicians, chefs, teachers, writers and ne'er–do–wells. I’ll talk with you about whatever you wish until 9:30 PM and then the community takes over.
Please come. All you need is Zoom. You don’t even need to show your face. Keep your video off and lurk. We’ll be screening old movies and television shows while arguing the world.
I was on The Majority Report this afternoon. I defended Starbucks, AIPAC and Joe Biden. Once again some people in the chat room took me seriously.
Here’s a gift for getting this far into the newsletter. It’s my conversation with Gilbert Gottfried from a few years back. I promise you’ll LOVE this. Please make sure to share it.
It was a great week for Summer Lee in Pennsylvania, and Jamie McLeod-Skinner who beat the Joe Manchin of the House, Congressman Kurt Schrader. Summer and Jamie are two great progressive candidates fending off crypto billionaires and crypto fascists from AIPAC.
Joe Thompson is a 19-year-old Starbucks organizer who won several union votes this month in the Northern California region. They are running for California State Assembly, the primary is early June—donate to Joe.
I totally get it that money is tight. But a five dollar investment in Summer Lee, Jamie McLeod-Skinner and Joe Thompson is an investment in YOUR financial future. Unless we start electing progressives who believe it’s time to redistribute wealth from the top down, Americans will continue careening on the road to serfdom.
Yes, I know, the show has gotten soooooo much better.
That’s because of the following people: Dan Frankenberger, The Invisible Ninja, Grace Jackson, Professor Jonathan Bick, Joe In Norway, Hannah Feldman, Sarah Busch and Andy Brown. They book the show, produce it, keep Office Hours running, maintain our Discord channel, and, mostly importantly, make sure our entire community knows they have a voice.
I can’t thank everyone enough. This show is a reflection of the entire community we’ve been building for the past two years. So, remember, when the show sucks—it’s not me, it’s you.
Well then. Here’s a recap of episodes 1339 and 1340 of the David Feldman Show. Click on individual time codes to take you to the segments you want to watch when you want to see them:
There's No Such Thing As A Good Guy With A Gun, Episode 1339
A sober look at Saturday's massacre of African Americans in Buffalo. The shooting was partly because of white supremacy. But the REAL reason for the shooting is it's too easy for every lunatic in America to get their hands on an assault weapon. Our nation's gun laws are an act of collective suicide. We choose weapons over peace. We prefer profits for arms manufacturers over our own security. From guns to for profit healthcare Americans are killing themselves in the name of Mammon.
Preview of Tuesday's primaries: North Carolina: Madison Cawthorn; Pennsylvania: State Sen. Doug Mastriano, Dr. Oz, and Summer Lee; Oregon: Jamie McLeod-Skinner, Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.)
CORRECTION: David identified Congresswoman Liz Cheney as representing Idaho. She represents Wyoming. We are sorry for both the mistake and the fact that there is a Wyoming or an Idaho.
