Stories stacking up on my desk:

Newspapers dying? Ralph Nader’s giving birth to one

Nader invested $15,000 and hired a veteran Connecticut journalist, Andy Thibault, to get the Citizen started. The masthead lists 17 reporters.

Chris Hedges: Woke Imperialism

Woke culture, devoid of class consciousness and a commitment to stand with the oppressed, is another tool in the arsenal of the imperial state.

Seymour Hersh Report Alleges US Was Behind Nord Stream Pipeline Sabotage

Biden’s decision to sabotage the pipelines came after more than nine months of highly secret back and forth debate inside Washington’s national security community about how to best achieve that goal. For much of that time, the issue was not whether to do the mission, but how to get it done with no overt clue as to who was responsible.

Under Pressure Amid Soaring Death Toll, US Eases Syria Sanctions for Earthquake Relief

The move, announced by the Treasury Department on Thursday evening, amounts to a tacit admission that U.S. sanctions could have impacted the delivery of humanitarian aid to the country following the massive earthquake and dozens of aftershocks that killed more than 21,000 people in Syria and neighboring Turkey.

Hannity’s Dubious Claim About Studies Showing ‘No Systemic Racism in Policing’

Discussing the fallout from the death of Tyre Nichols, Fox News’ Sean Hannity said two academic studies found police officers are as or less likely to shoot Black suspects, showing, “There is no systemic racism in policing. It doesn’t exist.”

But that’s not what the studies say.

MAGA Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna Claimed Jewish Heritage. Her Family Says That’s Not True.

A new report says the congresswoman doesn’t have Jewish roots, and her grandfather served in the Nazi army. She also appears to have embellished other parts of her biography.

And Now, the Republicans Are the Party of Defending Businesses That Rip People Off

Biden was right to talk about junk fees in his SOTU. And Republicans are playing into his hands.

Big Business Gave Over $36 Million to GOP 'Sedition Caucus' in 2022 Election Cycle: Report

With many of the same MAGA election deniers now holding powerful positions that could threaten democracy and fundamental voting rights, it's critical that corporations finally stand up to their extremism—not encourage more.

Over 30 Million in US Face 'Hunger Cliff' as Food Benefit Cuts Loom

Hunger is expected to soar across the United States next month when more than 30 million people enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program see their food benefits slashed significantly.

"This hunger cliff is coming to the vast majority of states, and people will on average lose about $82 of SNAP benefits a month," Ellen Vollinger, director for SNAP at the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC), toldCBS News on Friday. "That is a stunning number."

Read, write and get moving.

I'm so happy to hear you talking with Howie Klein every Monday. I hope you feel more at ease and satisfied with the new format you are using now--where you record the convo and then share it later via youtube. If you could post your recording and publish it at the same time every week, that would be even better for us listeners because we have to keep checking youtube starting around 4 pm on Mondays and hope that we can catch you guys at some random time, so it's the luck of the draw for us. However, if you could make it available at a regular time each week, I'm sure more people would listen in and enjoy hearing what you have to say. Also, then we listeners could chat with each other to our heart's content without bothering you. Hope I'm making sense, and that you find my comments worth your consideration. Cheers.
